Dave Brubeck Quartet – Take Five

This is one of my favorite jazz videos. The song is dope, and this is a great recording of it, especially Joe Morello’s drum solo, in which he does a whole bunch of cool shit, like hit the snare with his hand, and switch between rim-knocks on the floor tom and hitting the bottom of the ride cymbal with his stick. And the drumroll part towards the end of the solo is crazy. I love how restrained the whole thing is, as opposed to how I’d imagine seeing Mingus play, for example, would be.
