Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)

I don’t know a whole lot about Kate Bush or her work aside from Hounds of Love, the album this song comes from. It’s a bunch of weird ’80s synth-pop, with lyrics all about witches and aliens and God. Fans of Austra will like this song, I think, due to its driving synth-based beat, and repeated melodic phrases which come together and counter each other to make a whole. Cool video, too. I’ve been told by a bonafide dance student that the choreography is “awesome,” which I’d agree with, and about halfway through, the entire thing changes and gets super symbolic and cool.
